NBN News: Man threatens police with knife following three noise complaints

Three house visits from police following noise complaints turned dangerous last night – with a man threatening officers with a knife at a home in Lemon Tree Passage.

Officers attended the property on Cambridge Avenue at around 11pm after receiving loud music complaints.

A female occupant spoke to police and turned the music down, only to turn it up again once they left.

Police returned thirty minutes later for another complaint of noise and the woman turned down the volume once again.

Later, a third call was made and officers attended the home issuing a formal direction to stop the music.

A 24-year old man then allegedly threatened the female occupant as police began to leave.

He then walked into the front yard and threatened police with a knife, failing to drop the weapon when told to.

Police were forced to use a taser, before arresting the man. He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was charged.

He is facing Newcastle Local Court today.
