An off-duty police officer is in hospital after allegedly being stabbed multiple times by her ex-husband following a bloody dispute caught on CCTV in a quiet cul-de-sac in Sydney’s northwest.
According to police, the 46-year-old woman drove to her ex-husband’s home on Aberdeen Place, Stanhope Gardens, to talk to him when an argument erupted between the pair.
Police have been told they were seen arguing in the street when the man allegedly stabbed the police officer multiple times before inflicting wounds on himself.
A witness intervened and separated the pair before police arrived and arrested the man, who had allegedly fled the scene to nearby bushland.
Footage obtained by 7 News appears to show the alleged victim pulling up in a Mitsubishi SUV to talk to the man, before bolting out of the car, allegedly chased by her 48-year-old ex-husband.
A local resident reported hearing a woman banging on his front door for help.
“She keeps banging at the front door. I came to the door and by the time we came out there was a lady on the floor on her back on the frontyard.”
The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
Her ex-husband was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains under police guard, and has subsequently been charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.
