South Coast Register: Mullins family backed by Bay and Basin police, businesses

A fun-loving local family have had their world shattered this year, and Bay and Basin Police are determined to help.

Senior Constable Clint Mullins is described as the “life of the station” by his colleagues.

A couple of months ago, while at work on the Victorian border, he received a bolt from the blue.

His wife, Kate, was feeling unwell and had gone to get a checkup. She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, that had spread to her brain and liver.

Initially it was thought Kate would only have a matter of weeks to spend with Clint and their three children – Lana, aged 12, Mitchell, aged 10 and Cameron, aged six.

A combination of life-saving brain surgery and medication has bought the family more time together, and Clint’s colleagues want to help them make the most of it.

They’ve set up a raffle with the assistance of Police Legacy, NSW Police association and Police Bank to help raise funds for the family to assist them with the medical, day to day and other nasty bills which may arise now and into the future.

Acting Inspector Luke Geradts said the team at the Bay and Basin Station were amazed by the generosity of local businesses they approached to provide raffle prizes.

“Clint is very respected in the community, you couldn’t meet a nicer bloke,” Acting Inspector Geradts said.

“It’s been really tough to see this happen to the family.

“We would love to raise enough not just to help with the cost of medical bills but to send them on a family holiday somewhere, if Kate’s well enough.”

For anyone who wishes to support the family, but does not wish to purchase a raffle ticket, donations can be made to: BSB: 815 000 Account number: 303 720.
